Atmos Energy;
Notice of Public Hearing and Public Comment Period for Requested Natural Gas Service Rate Increase

Topeka, KS - The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) will hold a public hearing Wednesday, April 25, 2012, regarding Atmos Energy's request of an annual increase in rates for natural gas service.

The public hearing will consist of two parts. First, the KCC will hold an informational meeting to allow Atmos to fully explain its request to the public and to answer questions. KCC staff and the Citizens' Utility Ratepayer Board (CURB) will be present to make presentations and to answer questions. Then, a formal public hearing will be held to ensure members of the public have the opportunity to make their views on the application known to the KCC Commissioners, who will participate in person at the primary site and by video conference at three additional sites.

Atmos' Proposal

Atmos has proposed an annual increase in rates for natural gas service of $9.7 million or approximately twenty percent (20%). Atmos' last rate increase of $3.855 million was approved on July 30, 2010.

For residential customers, Atmos' request will increase the average monthly bill approximately $14.25, which is a 19.6% increase. This includes a request to increase the monthly Facility Charge from $37.00 per month to $44.00 per month, and an increase in the Commodity Charge from $.12953 per Ccf to $.15576 per Ccf.
