On January 29, 2010, Atmos Energy filed an application requesting a rate increase of $6 million. Atmos' last rate increase of $2.1 million was approved in May 2008. Since that time, Atmos has made investments in its system and experienced increases in operating costs.

If approved, the average residential customer who uses 830 hundred cubic feet (Ccf) of natural gas a year would see an increase of $4.18, or 19%, a month.
